Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The track showcases a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
