‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.

This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate ought to have intervened when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
