Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
