The President Calls Families of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House
President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Devastating Event
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Invitation
The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Remembering the Soldier
“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Morrisey said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
