The Red Devils Poised to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has half a year left on her contract, has been a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Departure from Bayern was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the club's fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its top forwards. Per reports, the formalities for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing should represent a major boost to United’s attacking options. She has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Building Steam at Carrington
Securing the German international comes at a time when United seem to be gathering momentum.
Recent performances feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
On the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the American league, said: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the top European competition.”
