Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
