Vinted Members Voice Anger Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
